Over 70% of WhatsApp users in major LATAM markets message businesses directly, and owners manage it all by hand in one inbox.
As message volume grows, replies slow down and interested customers get missed.
In interviews I conducted with business owners during my sabbatical fieldwork, the biggest hesitation from owners toward AI tools was losing their brand voice, sounding like a bot instead of themselves.

Conducted qualitative interviews with small business owners in Mexico, Peru, and Bolivia to validate the problem and surface concerns about adopting AI
Designed an Instagram-based voice analysis feature so the AI agent's replies match each business's actual tone, directly addressing owners' fear of sounding automated
Designed the AI agent's conversational flow (prompts, states, fallbacks) to handle incoming WhatsApp inquiries automatically
Designed onboarding and merchant acquisition flows for owners to get set up fast
Built a trilingual design system (Spanish, English, Portuguese) using AI-assisted engineering
